Shahid al-Hafed, February 14, 2024 (SPS) - The Sahrawi National Commission for Human Rights expressed its strong condemnation of the demolition and burning down of a number of rural homes owned by Sahrawi families between the occupied cities of Laayoune and Boujdour.
In its statement, a copy of which was obtained by SPS, the Saharawi National Commission for Human Rights condemned the failure of United Nations bodies to assume their responsibilities towards the people of Western Sahara, considering the failure and silence of the United Nations Secretariat and the Security Council in the face of the criminal behavior of the Moroccan occupying state that encourages the latter to persist in its terroristic and barbaric practices in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
The statement also condemned the failure of the International Committee of the Red Cross to protect Sahrawi citizens, their lands and property, calling on it to break the suspicious silence that afflicts it whenever it comes to violations of human and people's rights in occupied Western Sahara.
The Sahrawi Human Rights Commission stated in its statement that, on February 13, 2024, the Moroccan occupation authorities demolished and burnt down many rural homes owned by several Sahrawi families along the coast extending between the occupied cities of Laayoune and Boujdour, especially in the area known as “Bou- lamairthat and Aghti Baba Ali.”
