
Cape Town, South Africa – August 13, 2025 (WAS) – Mr. Adda Brahim Ahmim, National Secretariat member and Minister of Water and Environment, alongside water ministers from African nations, attended the opening session of the African Water Summit held today, Wednesday.
The summit saw the participation of heads of state and government from across the continent, as well as prominent international partners.
The session began with a welcoming address, followed by a roundtable discussion with heads of state, including South African President and G20 Chair Cyril Ramaphosa. High-level representatives from the African Union, the African Development Agency, and international officials from various continents also took part.
This opening session marked the official launch of the summit, which focuses on mobilizing investments in the water sector as a cornerstone for sustainable development and climate security in Africa.
