Santec (France), August 7, 2026 (SPS) – The Mayor of Vitry-sur-Seine, Pierre Bell-Lloch, visited Sahrawi and Palestinian children staying at a holiday camp in Santec, on France's west coast, as part of the municipality's annual solidarity program.
Addressing the children, Mayor Pierre Bell-Lloch said: "I hope you have enjoyed an excellent holiday and a pleasant stay in France. We know that you are deprived of your freedom because of the occupation of your lands. Our support for your causes is unconditional, as it is based on our commitment to the principles of justice, equality, and respect for international law. We are convinced that your struggle contributes to strengthening peace and stability in the world, and that one day you will live freely on your ancestral lands. History will ultimately prevail in favor of the peoples of Western Sahara and Palestine."
The city of Vitry-sur-Seine is well known for its longstanding commitment to supporting just causes, particularly those of the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples. Every summer, it hosts groups of children from the Sahrawi refugee camps and the Palestinian territories, offering them several weeks of rest away from the difficult living conditions imposed by occupation and exile. The municipality also conducts awareness-raising activities within French society in support of the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples' right to self-determination and freedom.
