Occupied El Aaiun, January 15, 2025 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation authorities carried out the kidnapping of Sahrawi human rights defenders Hassan Zarouali and Saleh Dlimi early Wednesday morning.

After being stripped of their mobile phones, the activists were subjected to violence, beating, and insults before being taken to the so-called security headquarters, where they were met by hordes of thugs and criminals who assaulted them with punches, kicks, torture, and threats. They were detained and released at five o'clock in the morning the same day after being threatened and intimidated.

Hassan Zarouali, who works as a correspondent for the national television, stated that the targeting of journalists, especially national television correspondents, is a deliberate act. He added that the institution strongly condemns this targeting and calls upon organizations that protect journalists and media professionals, including Reporters without Borders and international media networks, to intervene to protect Sahrawi journalists and enable them to exercise their rights to cover events and expose the terrorist policies of the occupation against the Sahrawis.
