Shaheed El-Hafed, June 14, 2026 (SPS) – The Ministry of Water and Environment received 12 water tankers on Sunday as a contribution from the Algerian Water Company’s Tindouf Branch, aimed at ensuring the continuous distribution of water during the summer season.
The tankers were received by the Minister of Water and Environment, Mr. Ahmed Bechar Ami Omar, accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Salha El Abed, in the presence of the governors of the Republic and regional water directors.
After expressing his gratitude to the Algerian Water Company (Tindouf Branch) for the initiative, the Minister of Water and Environment noted that the donation would undoubtedly contribute to ensuring the uninterrupted supply of water to citizens and help address the water shortages that refugee camps often experience during the summer due to rising temperatures, which frequently lead to the breakdown of water tankers.
The minister added that the Sahrawi government and the highest authorities remain committed to ensuring that water reaches all citizens despite the existing challenges.
