Organization of training course in Algeria for Sahrawi vaccination workers

Algiers, June 14, 2026 (SPS) – A training course for Sahrawi personnel working in the field of immunization was launched today, Sunday, at the National Institute of Public Health in Algeria.

The training program, organized by the UNICEF in cooperation with the National Institute of Public Health of Algeria, aims to define the role of health workers within the institutional structure of the Sahrawi immunization system, explain the mechanisms for implementing epidemiological surveillance procedures, and provide guidance on the management of vaccine cold-chain systems.

During the first day of the training course, three lectures were delivered covering the general status of immunization in the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, pharmacovigilance as a foundation for monitoring the safety, effectiveness, and quality of vaccines, and the vaccination schedule currently in use. The sessions also addressed contraindications to vaccination, as well as a number of important recommendations and procedures for Sahrawi personnel working in the immunization sector.
