
Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) 13 April 2025 (SPS) – The President of the Pan African Parliament (PAP), H.E. Chief Fortune Zephania Charumbira, accompanied by the Clerk of the PAP and a delegation of senior members of the institution, paid a courtesy call today Sunday on H.E. Amb. Lamine Baali, Permanent Representative of the Sahrawi Republic to the African Union, at the Sahrawi Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The visit served as an opportunity for fruitful discussions on a broad range of issues, including the ongoing activities of the Pan African Parliament, the current agenda of the African Union Commission (AUC), and the strengthening of institutional relations between the PAP and the Sahrawi National Council (Parliament).
During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two legislative bodies, particularly in the context of the AU’s broader mission to promote good governance, democratic participation, and continental integration.
The Sahrawi Ambassador expressed appreciation for the visit and reiterated the Sahrawi Republic’s firm support for the Pan African Parliament as a vital organ of the African Union. He also praised the PAP’s inclusive approach and its role in amplifying the voices of African peoples.
For his part, the President of the PAP highlighted the Sahrawi Republic’s longstanding engagement within the AU framework and commended its active participation in continental affairs. He gave a briefing to the Sahrawi counterpart on the current state of affairs in the Parliament and the future prospects.
The Sahrawi Permanent Representative was accompanied in this meeting by Amb. Malainin Mohamed, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sahrawi Republic to Ethiopia. (SPS)
