Shaheed El Hafed, 17 September 2026 (SPS) – A lecture was held today, Thursday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sahrawi natural resources, their importance, and their role as part of the struggle waged by the Sahrawi people to complete its sovereignty over the entire territory of the Sahrawi Republic.

The lecture, delivered by the President of the Sahrawi Authority for Petroleum and Minerals, Mr. Ghali Zubeir, addressed the issue of natural resources from a geostrategic analytical perspective. It focused on the role of natural resources in the conflict with the Moroccan occupation, their importance, the resources available, and ways of exploiting them. The speaker also discussed the optimal ways of using them as a tool in the Sahrawi people's struggle against the Moroccan occupation.

The lecture was attended by National Secretariat member, Prime Minister Mr. Bouchraya Hamoudi Bayoun, along with officials of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi state.

In a statement to SPS, the speaker stressed the great importance of the natural resources issue, commending the distinguished and representative attendance, as well as the participants' engagement with the content of the lecture.

The speaker noted that the Sahrawi people are subjected to military and cultural invasion, the continuous plundering of their resources, and attacks on their rights to sovereignty over their territory and its resources.

He considered awareness of the natural resources issue essential for developing methods of resisting the occupation on this crucial front, particularly in its political, economic, and legal dimensions.
