
South Africa, April 24, 2025 (SPS) – The South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr. Ronald Lamola, held a farewell meeting with Ambassador Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, who has been appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Sahrawi government.
The farewell meeting was an opportunity for the two ministers to review the current state and future of bilateral relations between the two friendly nations, as well as the situation in the African continent and upcoming events on the African Union’s agenda.
Mr. Ronald Lamola expressed his gratitude to Mr. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat for his commitment to strengthening fraternal and diplomatic relations during his tenure in South Africa. He congratulated him on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, reaffirming South Africa’s steadfast support for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.
South Africa remains steadfast in its call for the end of the illegal occupation of Western Sahara and urges the AU and international community to act in solidarity with the Saharawi cause.
The meeting was attended by the South African minister’s key aides and advisors, as well as staff from the Sahrawi Embassy in South Africa.
