Shaheed El-Hafed, October 22, 2024 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, received lawyer Manuel Devers, the legal counsel of the Polisario Front before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in the case concerning the plunder of Sahrawi resources through unjust agreements made between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union.
The lawyer’s visit comes after the Polisario Front won a legal battle against the European Union, wherein the European Court issued a historic non-appealable ruling, affirming the distinction of Western Sahara from the Kingdom of Morocco and declaring the invalidity of the Moroccan-European partnership agreements that encompass Western Sahara. The ruling also recognized the legal standing of the Polisario Front as the sole representative of the Sahrawi people.
The lawyer and his accompanying team presented the President with a detailed report on the advocacy process before the European Court and the future work prospects following the final ruling.
The meeting was attended by Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, a member of the National Secretariat and Minister Counselor for Diplomatic Affairs at the Presidency of the Republic; Ubbi Bushraya, the Polisario Front's representative in Switzerland and at the United Nations organizations in Geneva; and the presidential advisor Abdati Breika.
