Shahid Al-Hafed, December 28, 2023 (SPS) - The Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front renewed the Sahrawi party’s adherence to a just solution based on ending the illegal Moroccan occupation of parts of the Sahrawi Republic.
The Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat affirmed, in a statement concluded its meeting chaired by the President of the Republic, the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, the Sahrawi party’s adherence to a just solution based on ending the illegal Moroccan occupation of the territories of the Sahrawi Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco’s respect for recognized international borders and the inalienable and imprescriptible rights of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence.
The Permanent Bureau renewed the Polisario Front’s readiness to continue constructive cooperation with the efforts of the international community aimed at decolonizing Western Sahara on the basis of the Sahrawi people’s exercise of their right to self-determination and independence.
The Sahrawi party called on the Security Council to enable the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to carry out the mission for which it was established, which is to organize a self-determination referendum, pointing out that in the event of continued obstruction by the Moroccan occupier, the Security Council must approve the necessary measures to impose on the Moroccan party to respect its obligations signed with the Sahrawi party in 1991, under the supervision of the United Nations and the Organization of African Unity / African Union, including penalties.
