Mexico City, Mexico, 9 October 2026 (SPS) – The Polisario Front is participating in the 30th International Seminar “Political Parties and a New Society”, being held in Mexico City from 8 to 10 October and organised by the Mexican Labour Party (PT).
This year’s edition brings together 269 foreign delegates representing 101 organisations and political parties from 36 countries, providing a platform for political exchange and discussion on the major challenges facing the international community.
The Polisario Front is represented by Ambassador Mohamed Zrug, in charge of Latin America and the Caribbean.
During the opening ceremony, Sahrawi Ambassador to Mexico Mohamed Salek Abdessamad delivered a welcoming address, thanking the Mexican Labour Party for its longstanding friendship, support and solidarity with the Sahrawi Republic, as well as its steadfast backing of the Sahrawi people’s inalienable right to freely exercise self-determination.
In his address, the Sahrawi ambassador condemned violations of international humanitarian law by the Moroccan occupation authorities in the occupied territories of Western Sahara. He also drew attention to the critical situation of Sahrawi political prisoners held in Moroccan prisons, particularly those currently on hunger strike to demand their fundamental rights.
The seminar will continue until 10 October, with discussions organised around three main themes addressing key issues on the current international agenda. The Polisario Front is expected to contribute to various discussion sessions, presenting its positions on combating colonialism, peoples’ right to self-determination, and the challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean in building a more just, sovereign and multipolar international order.
The Sahrawi delegation also plans to hold an intensive series of meetings with participating political parties, organisations and social movements on the sidelines of the international seminar.
