New York (United Nations), 12 October 2026 (SPS) – Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, Member of the National Secretariat, Representative of the Frente POLISARIO at the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO, met today with Mrs. Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.
During the meeting held at the UN headquarters, the UN-sponsored peace process in Western Sahara was discussed in light of the Security Council’s consultations on MINURSOlast week. The Sahrawi diplomat briefed the Under-Secretary-General on the position of the Frente POLISARIO regarding the various issues related to the peace process and its prospects.
In this context, the efforts undertaken by the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara were addressed. The Representative of the Frente POLISARIO at the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO handed the UN-Secretary-General a copy of the letter sent earlier today by Mr. Brahim Ghali, President of the Sahrawi Republic and Secretary-General of the Frente POLISARIO, to Mr. António Guterres, UN Secretary-General, in this connection.
