Auserd Wilaya, June 18, 2026 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, affirmed that any solution to the conflict in Western Sahara must be accepted by the Sahrawi people and guarantee its established right to self-determination and independence, which is neither negotiable nor subject to compromise.
In his speech at the opening of the Meeting of Political Secretaries and Commissars, President Brahim Ghali pointed out that the intense deliberations within the United Nations Security Council reflect a genuine struggle between adherence to international law and attempts to circumvent it. He noted that UN Security Council Resolution 2797 reaffirmed this fundamental right, despite shortcomings in the wording of the resolution.
President Brahim Ghali also revealed that three meetings had been held earlier this year between the two parties to the conflict, with the participation of neighboring countries and observers, under the joint chairmanship of the United Nations and the United States of America. He stressed that it is still too early to assess the course and outcome of these meetings in light of the current international crisis.
He further pointed out that these developments are taking place at a time when the world is facing an unprecedented crisis, driven by attempts by certain powers to undermine the foundations of international law and the multilateral system represented by the United Nations.
