Sahrawi Republic takes part in 13th meeting of Defense Ministers, 14th Meeting of Chiefs of Staff Committee of North Africa Regional Capability

Algiers, 27 November 2025 (SPS) – The National Army Club in Beni Messous hosted the 13th meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers and the 14th meeting of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the armies of the member states of the North Africa Regional Capability, which includes Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, and the Sahrawi Republic.

These meetings saw the participation of a delegation from the Sahrawi Republic headed by the Director of Operations at the Ministry of National Defense, Taleb Ammi Deih, representing the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army.

He began his speech by welcoming the delegations of the member states and expressed gratitude to Algeria for the warm reception and generous hospitality.

He praised the strong and distinguished ties that unite the member states, congratulated the sisterly State of Libya for assuming the rotating presidency of the capability, and thanked the Arab Republic of Egypt for the role it played during its presidency in 2025. He also welcomed the presence of the sisterly Islamic Republic of Mauritania and expressed appreciation for the work carried out by the Executive Secretariat.

He reaffirmed the Sahrawi Republic’s readiness to remain an active and constructive partner in all initiatives of the North Africa Regional Capability within the African Standby Force.

The agenda of these meetings focused on assessing the outcomes of this mechanism’s activities during 2025 and studying ways and mechanisms to develop its components in order to strengthen coordination among member states in confronting the threats facing the security and stability of the region.

The proceedings concluded with the signing of the final report of the 13th meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers and the 14th meeting of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the member states of the North Africa Regional Capability.
