Botswana Government extends condolences following passing of Ambassador Sidi El-Hiba Abbas

Gaborone (Botswana), 11 August 2026 (SPS) — The Government of Botswana expressed its sincere condolences to the Sahrawi government and people, as well as to the family of the late Sidi El-Hiba Abbas.

This was conveyed by Botswana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Phenyo Butale, who signed the condolence book at the Sahrawi Embassy in Botswana.

On this occasion, the minister, who conveyed condolences on behalf of President Duma Boko, affirmed Botswana’s steadfast position regarding the cause of the Sahrawi people and their right to self-determination.
