Occupied El Aaiun, 09 January 2026 (SPS) – The Moroccan occupation, through all its apparatuses, continues its systematic repression of activists and human rights defenders in the occupied areas of Western Sahara, in flagrant violation of international law and human rights conventions.

In this context, on Tuesday the Moroccan occupation imposed a tight security cordon around the homes of Sahrawi activists Hassna Baba Ahmed Adouihe, a member of the Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners in Moroccan Prisons, and Mina Baali, a member of the Executive Bureau of the Sahrawi Body against the Moroccan Occupation (ISACOM) in occupied El Aaiun. This comes within the framework of repressive practices targeting Sahrawi militants and activists in the occupied territories.

Sahrawi human rights defender Hassna Baba Ahmed Adouihe indicated that the siege “included a heavy deployment of vehicles belonging to the Moroccan occupation police and auxiliary forces, along with security and intelligence elements that completely surrounded his home,” noting that “these repressive measures were intended to disrupt a memorial activity that was scheduled to bring together Sahrawi activists.”
