Kenitra (Morocco), July 3, 2025 (SPS) – Sahrawi civilian prisoner Abdallahi Lkhfawani, a member of the Gdeim Izik group, on Thursday begun a 48-hour warning hunger strike, at Kenitra Central Prison, indicated the League for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners in Moroccan Jails.

The strike comes in protest against the prison administration’s confiscation of his radio, which he used to follow developments in the Sahrawi national cause and global events, as well as a personal archive containing correspondence and complaints he had submitted to relevant authorities regarding his detention conditions.

Additionally, on Thursday, the Kenitra prison authorities sprayed toxic pesticides inside Lkhfawani’s cell, causing him to suffer suffocation without receiving any first aid or medical attention.

This punitive measure is part of a broader pattern of repression and mistreatment against Sahrawi political prisoners, who continue to endure inhumane conditions in Moroccan jails.
