Windhoek (Namibia), March 22, 2025 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, led a visit today, Saturday, to the Heroes' Acre in the Namibian capital, Windhoek. The site houses the graves of numerous Namibian leaders, including the spiritual father of Namibia and its first post-independence president, Sam Nujoma, who passed away on February 8, and Hage Geingob, the third president, who died on February 4, 2024.

The President of the Republic laid wreaths on the graves of the two leaders and received explanations about the shared struggle of Namibian leaders alongside other African leaders to liberate the continent from colonialism. This goal was achieved thanks to their heroic efforts, with the exception of the last colony on the continent, Western Sahara, whose people continue to fight for their freedom and independence.

The President of the Republic highlighted that Sam Nujoma was one of the leaders who firmly believed in the Sahrawi cause and supported it from his days as a revolutionary fighting for Namibia's liberation until he became its president in 1990. He remained a steadfast supporter of the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination until his passing.
