Windhoek, Namibia – March 20, 2025 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, arrived Thursday evening in the capital of Namibia, Windhoek, to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the country's President, Ms. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
Upon his arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, the President of the Republic was received by the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Mr. Erastus Uutoni. The President of the Republic was accorded a ceremonial welcome, followed by a meeting with the minister in the airport's VIP lounge.
The inauguration ceremony for Namibia's new president will take place tomorrow, Friday. She won the general elections held in November 2024, and her victory was officially announced on December 3, 2024, making her the elected president of the Republic of Namibia. She received 58.7% of the votes, becoming the first woman to win the Namibian presidential elections.
Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is Namibia's fifth President since the country gained independence from South Africa on March 21, 1990.
