Wilaya of Boujdour, March 08, 2025 (SPS) - The National Union of Sahrawi Women (NUSW) commemorated the dual anniversary of International Women's Day and the fall of the first martyr, coinciding with March 8.

The event was attended by the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, members of the National Secretariat, the government, the National Council, and women leaders from various national institutions, as well as foreign delegations in solidarity with Sahrawi women.

The event began with a visit to a traditional tent that embodies the customs and traditions of the Sahrawi people, whose foundation and preservation are attributed to Sahrawi women. These women have balanced the dual struggles of liberation and nation-building.

The event also included an exhibition showcasing the resistance of the Sahrawi people and the struggle of Sahrawi women.

The head of the Political Organization Secretariat, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Amrabih Mami Dai, emphasized the Polisario Front's appreciation for the pioneering role of Sahrawi women in the journey of nation-building and struggle.

He also praised the resilience of Sahrawi women in the occupied territories despite the repression and brutality they face at the hands of the Moroccan occupation authorities.

The event concluded with a final statement in which the Union denounced the violence faced by Sahrawi women in the occupied cities, including repression and abuse by Moroccan forces.

The Union also commended the participation of the World March of Women and its solidarity with the Sahrawi people, reaffirming the determination of Sahrawi women to continue their struggle until freedom and independence are achieved.
