Summer University for Polisario Front and Sahrawi State executives opens in Boumerdès, Algeria

Boumerdès, August 3, 2025 (SPS) – The 13th edition of the Summer University for Polisario Front and Sahrawi State executives kicked off this Sunday morning in Boumerdès, Algeria, under the slogan "Struggle and Sacrifice to Achieve Independence and Freedom." Dedicated to the martyr Dah Bendir Burhah, the event will run until the 13th of this month.

The opening ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Mr. Bouchraya Hammoudi Bayoun, member of the National Secretariat, Prime Minister; Mr. Mrabih Mami, member of the National Secretariat, head of the Political Organization Secretariat, who presides over the event; Mr. Khatri Adouh, member of the National Secretariat, Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria; Representatives from both chambers of the Algerian Parliament, political parties, the diplomatic corps, media, and Algerian civil society.

In his opening speech, Mr. Mrabih Mami, President of the Summer University, expressed gratitude to the authorities of Boumerdès, the University of Mohamed Bougara, and the Algerian Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People for their warm welcome and meticulous preparations.

He emphasized that this Summer University marks the culmination of Algeria’s unwavering support for the Sahrawi people’s struggle, reflecting Algeria’s steadfast position regardless of changing circumstances.

For his part, Dr. Said Ayachi, President of the Algerian National Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, reiterated Algeria’s firm stance in supporting the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples. He highlighted that Algeria’s solidarity stems from a shared revolutionary history against colonialism and expansionism.

All participating officials and representatives reaffirmed their support for the Sahrawi people’s legitimate fight for self-determination and independence.

Boumerdès hosts this annual Summer University as a symbol of solidarity, where Algeria—both government and people—renews its commitment to standing with the Sahrawi people against occupation and in pursuit of freedom and independence.
