Ait Melloul (Morocco), January 24, 2025 (SPS) - The Moroccan administration at Ait Melloul prison conducted today, Friday, degrading and provocative searches of the cells of Sahrawi civilian prisoners from the Gdeim Izik group, including Mohammed Bani, Sid Ahmed Lamjid, and Ibrahim Ismaili, according to information received by the Sahrawi Prisoners Protection Association.

According to the same source, at around eight o'clock in the morning on Friday, a group of prison staff and guards raided the cells of the Sahrawi civilian prisoners, where they were subjected to insults, foul language, and threats of other illegal actions, in addition to tampering with their personal belongings.

These Sahrawi civilian prisoners faced this provocative and humiliating search after they refused to remain silent about the actions taken by the administration of Ait Melloul 2 prison, which involved placing a group of inmates suffering from chronic and contagious diseases within the same area where the Sahrawi civilian prisoners are held.

The families of the Sahrawi civilian prisoners held the occupying authority fully responsible for the systematic targeting and disregard for their right to psychological and physical safety.
