Caracas, Venezuela, 17 May 2024 (SPS) - Dr Sidi Mohamed Omar, Member of the National Secretariat and Representative of the Frente POLISARIO at the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO exposed the incoherence of the claims of the representative of the occupying sate of Morocco, stressing that his inability to confront the irrefutable facts is what drives him to resort to devious methods and the use of vulgar expressions, which further exposes his repulsive and desperate behaviour.
The incisive comments were made during the discussions and responses to the statements made during the Caribbean Regional Seminar organised by the Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples (C-24) of the United Nations General Assembly held in Caracas, Venezuela.
The Sahrawi diplomat pointed out that the representative of the occupying state made absurd and preposterous allegations during the discussions, which were frowned upon by many participants, because of his lack of convincing arguments and his utter inability to confront the irrefutable facts and the series of documented arguments and conclusive evidence presented by the Sahrawi delegation.
He added that the lack of arguments led the representative of the occupying state to use devious methods. In this context, the Sahrawi diplomat referred to the statements made by some countries during the discussions, which were strikingly similar not only in the positions expressed and the order of the points raised, but also in the wordings themselves, which most participants noted and considered unfit for self-respecting countries.
The Representative of the Frente POLISARIO at the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO stressed that this striking similarity was never a mere coincidence but was due to the devious methods used by the representative of the occupying state to bribe and corrupt some “individuals” who have no scruples to parrot some already made “talking points”. He further emphasised that corruption and purchase of influence are a key tool of the diplomacy of the occupying state, as revealed by the ongoing investigations into the “Moroccogate” at the European Parliament.
The Sahrawi diplomat conveyed his deep appreciation to the countries that expressed principled positions in support of the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence, stressing that the dollars of the occupying state of Morocco will only bring it “shame” because there are many countries that do not compromise on their principles and adherence to international law.
Dr Sidi Mohamed Omar concluded that the representative of the occupying state of Morocco continues to confuse the Member States of the United Nations with the domestic opinion of his country, which he is used to dupe with his miserable acrobatic moves and his “spectacular” battles against windmills.
In his statement before the Seminar, the Representative the Frente POLISARIO at the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO demonstrated with documented evidence that Moroccan expansionism continues to block the decolonisation of Western Sahara and to seriously threaten peace and security in the region and beyond.
