Algiers, Sept 22, 2016 (SPS) - The president of the Sahrawi Red Crescent (CRS), Yahia Bouhabini, said Wednesday that the "urgent call" launched by international aid agencies to ease the suffering of Sahrawi refugees shows the growing concern worldwide over the deterioration of the situation due to Morocco's stubbornness and its denial of Sahrawi people's right to self-determination.

Denmark: "The launch of a campaign to pressure EU to play a positive role in securing the right of self-determination for Saharawi people"

Copenhagen (Denmark), September 22, 2016 (SPS) - The Danish Organization of Afrika Kontakt launched a campaign on several levels in Denmark in order to put pressure on the EU to play a positive role in enabling the Saharawi people of their right to self-determination through a free, fair and impartial referendum, underlining that Western Sahara is the last non-self-governing territory of Africa and still pending the completion of its decolonization process. Hence, it is paramount that the referendum for self-determination is settled and international law respected.

King of Spain calls to find a solution enable Saharawi people to exercise their self-determination right

New York (USA), September 21, 2016 (SPS) - The King of Spain on Tuesday, Mr. Felipe VI, said that his country supports United Nations efforts aimed at reaching a solution to the Saharawi people,  which enable them to exercise their right to self-determination and the decolonization of Western Sahara.
Speaking at UN 71 session of the General Assembly, he called the parties of the conflict "Morocco and the Polisario Front," to resume negotiations to reach a final solution to the conflict in Western Sahara.

International organizations express concern over Saharawi political prisoner’s situation

Moroccan occupying authorities disperses brutally peaceful demonstration in occupied Smara

Occupied Smara, September 21, 2016 (SPS) - the Moroccan occupying authorities has brutally  dispersed a peaceful demonstration of a group of marginalized young Sahrawi demanding their right to work and a decent life and to benefit from the wealth of their country, reported Sahrawi human rights source.
According to the same source, the occupying authorities attacked the demonstrators in the streets of the city leaving fear among the citizens.

Non-Aligned Movement Summit reiterates support for Saharawi people's right to self-determination

UN proposes MINURSO exclusive presence in Guerguerat

New York, September 18, 2016 (SPS) - The United Nations has proposed the exclusive presence of the peacekeeping forces of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) in Guerguerat area, southwest of Western Sahara, where Polisario Front and Moroccan troops are separated from each other by only 120 metres.

The audience was attended by Suelma Beiruk, Vice President of the African Parliament, Hamdi Boueha, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting focused on the latest developments of the question of Western Sahara and the means to strengthen Sahrawi, Hungarian and European parliamentary relations.
