Parliamentary delegations from El Salvador and Hungary on visit in Sahrawi refugee camps

Shaheed El-Hafed (refugee camps) September 17, 2016 (SPS)  Parliamentary delegations from El Salvador and Hungary is on a working visit Saturday in the Saharawi refugee camps, where it will meet with Sahrawi authorities.
The delegations includes a member of the Salvadoran parliament and another of the Hungarian parliament, indicated the Bureau of the National Council, adding that the Salvadoran Parliament is expected to sign a protocol of action for the creation of a Sahrawi-Salvadoran parliamentary friendship commission.

Morocco cannot continue its colonial occupation of Western Sahara whiles seeking membership of the African Union (SFG)

Accra (Ghana), Sept 16, 2016 (SPS) - The Socialist Forum of Ghana (SFG) reaffirmed on Wednesday that Morocco cannot continue its colonial occupation of Western Sahara whiles seeking membership of the African Union, insisting that those who seek membership of the AU ought to accept the lofty principles of anti-colonialism, anti-racism and commitment to Pan Africanism which form the basis on which the organisation was founded.
 

Spanish aid to Saharawis refugee

Madrid (Spain), Sept 16, 2016 (SPS) - Saharawi refugees living in camps will receive humanitarian aid consisting of 3500 kg of school stationary and medical supply, the first batch of which is to be shipped next Friday from Alicante, Spain, according to Spanish media.
The aid consists in donations from about twelve companies and from groups of the city of Valladolid, according to Spanish newspaper El Norte de Castilla.
The aid is composed of 1500 kg of school stationary and medical equipment, including syringe, blood bags and medicine.

National Council holds meeting to prepare for its coming agendas

Chahid El Hafed, Sept 16, 2016 (SPS) - the Bureau of the National Council, headed by a member of the National Secretariat, Speaker of  National Council Mr. Jatri Aduh held preparatory meeting for the upcoming visit of a delegation from his Salvadoran and Hungarian counterpart.
 
Said delegation, two members of the Salvadoran and Hungarian parliament, is expected to sign a protocol of work provides for the establishment of the Sahrawi-Salvadoran friendship Parliamentary Committee.
 

European Court : EU-Morocco pacts not applicable to Western Sahara (Washington Post)

Brussels (Belgium) Sept 16, 2016 (SPS) -the Washington Post magazine, with widespread had published story on the recent advisory opinion of advocate general  Melchior Wathelet concerning the EU-Morocco trade and agricultural agreements, in which he asserted that these agreements does not apply to Western Sahara.
Melchior Wathelet underlined in his legal opinion that Western Sahara isn’t a part of Morocco, and EU member countries have never recognized the North African country’s sovereignty over the territory.

Sahrawi Association expresses its satisfaction on European Court of Justice Advocate General advisory opinion

Occupied Aaiun,  Sept 15, 2016 (SPS) – Saharawi Resource watch and Environmental Protection Association in Western Sahara expressed satisfaction on advisory opinion of the advocate general of the European Court of Justice, Mr. Melchior Wathelet, which reaffirms that the EU-Morocco agriculture agreement between does not apply to Western Sahara in statement issued yesterday.

Set up of Preparatory Committee for Saharawi Workers General Union Eighth Congress

Chahed El Hafid, Sept 15, 2016 (SPS) - The General Secretariat of the General Union of Workers of Saguia El Hamra and Rio de  Oro revealed at a meeting yesterday  the formation of a preparatory committee for its  Eighth Congress.
 
The preparatory committee headed by Mohamed Chej Mohamed Lehbib current SG of the Union and comprises of 45 members representing the different branches of the organization from various national institutions.SPS

Western Sahara: CJEU advocate general's opinion paves way for self-determination referendum

Brussels, Sept 14, 2016 (SPS) -The opinion expressed by advocate general of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in the case between the Polisario Front and the EU's Council on the Agreement on the liberalisation of trade in agricultural and fishery products with Morocco "paves the way for holding the self-determination referendum in Western Sahara," said lawyer of Polisario Front Gilles Devers.

Melchior Wathelet, concerning the case before the Court of the European Union on the cooperation agreement in the areas of agriculture and fisheries signed between the European Union and Morocco ".

EU-Morocco agricultural agreement does not apply to Western Sahara, says CJEU

Brussels (Belgium), Sept 14, 2016 (SPS) - Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) Melchior Wathelet said Tuesday that EU-Morocco agreement on liberalization of the trade of agricultural produce and fishing does not apply to Western Sahara, which "is not part of the Moroccan territories."
Western Sahara "is not part of the Moroccan territory" and, therefore, "neither EU-Morocco association agreement nor the liberalization agreement is applicable to it," Wathelet wrote in his findings submitted on Tuesday.

Sahrawi remarkable participation in humanitarian Feast in Paris

Paris (France) September 13, 2016 (SPS) - Saharawi Abroad Community resident in French participated in the celebrations for the feast of humanity held from 09 until 11 September-Saint-Denis district.
 
Sahrawi community took part this year in many awareness-raising activities of the struggle of the Saharawi people and his just cause, through photographs, tents decorated with national flags, in addition to the exhibition embodied Sahrawi culture, which the Moroccan occupier is trying to erase it.

President of Republic performs Eid al-Adha prayer in Smara

Smara (Saharawi refugee camps), Sept 13, 2016 (SPS) - President of Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Gali, performed Monday Eid al-Adha prayer, along with the speaker of National Council and members of National Secretariat and Government in the camps of Smara.
The imams, in the two sermons of the prayer in all camps, called for national unity, encouraging the faithful to preserve the ties between them, help each other and to ban the factors of division.SPS

The Saharawi people celebrate Eid El Adha

Smara (Saharawi refugee camps),  Sept 13, 2016 (SPS).- This Monday Saharawi people as all Muslim communities celebrated the First Day of Eid El Adha.
Thousands of Sahrawi refugees prayed and listened to the religious speech for Eid El Adha ,which called for national unity, and the struggle to regain the territory.
The President of the Republic, Brahim Gali along with members of the Government and the National Secretariat of the POLISARIO attended this ceremony.

Special envoy of President of Republic received by Togolese President

Lome, September 11, 2016 (SPS) The President of the Republic of Togo, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, received Saturday Hamdi Khalil Mayara, Minister for African Affairs, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister in charge of Africa handed the Togolese President a letter from his counterpart, Brahim Ghali.

Moroccan escalation in El Guergarat : Polisario Front refers issue to Security Council

New York (United Nations)- Polisario Front called Friday the UN Security Council to intervene to prevent Morocco from building a road crossing the Saharawi territories, condemning UN breaking of its previous commitments about the project.
In a letter to the chairman of the Security Council, just before a crisis meeting on Western Sahara, the Polisario Front expressed surprise over the position of the UN, which seems to "ignore its own decisions" about the project.

Polisario Front informs UN Security Council on rejection of any proposal outside 1991 ceasefire agreements

New York, September 10, 2016 (SPS) - Polisario Front called Friday on the UN Security Council to intervene to prevent the construction of a road passing through Sahrawi territories, condemning the evasion by the United Nations of its previous commitments on the project, in a letter from the representative of the Polisario Front to the United Nations, Mr. Ahmed Bukhari, to President of the UN Security Council, His Excellency Mr. Gerard Jacobus van Bohemen, before a meeting on the Western Sahara crisis.
