New York (United Nations), April 29, 2025 (SPS) – Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, member of the National Secretariat, Polisario Front Representative at the United Nations, and Coordinator with MINURSO, met today, Tuesday, with Ms. Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.
The meeting, held at the UN Headquarters, addressed the UN-led peace process in Western Sahara in light of the recent Security Council consultations on MINURSO. The Sahrawi diplomat briefed the Deputy Secretary-General on the Polisario Front’s position regarding all issues related to the peace process and its prospects.
Discussions particularly focused on the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, aimed at reviving the stalled peace process—a situation resulting from Morocco’s obstructionist policies and its continued reliance on fait accompli tactics to entrench its illegal occupation of Sahrawi territories.
