Wilaya of Dakhla, April 19, 2025 (SPS) – The electoral process to select the Secretary-General of the Workers' Union, its Executive Bureau, and regional offices commenced this evening.
The voting follows the approval of both the Electoral Commission and its work program by participants in the 10th Congress of the General Union of Workers of Saguia el-Hamra and Rio de Oro (UGTSARIO). Preliminary election results are expected to be announced tomorrow, Sunday.
The second day of the Congress also saw ratification of preparatory committee reports, organization of the 8th Workers' Symposium in Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, launch of the electoral process.
The proceedings reflect the democratic functioning of the union as it addresses both organizational matters and solidarity with the Sahrawi cause.
