Shaheed El Hafed, November 18, 2024 (SPS) - The Polisario Front expressed its condemnation of the inclination of some major powers, including permanent members of the Security Council, to undermine peaceful rules and solutions while attempting to bypass international legitimacy.
In a statement concluding the work of the Permanent Office of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, chaired by the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, the Office condemned the drift of some powers, including permanent members of the UN Security Council, to destroy all rules of peaceful resolution and just solutions, in a blatant attempt to bypass international legitimacy and indivisible justice. In this context, France bears responsibility for the consequences of its recent positions aligned entirely with the policies of occupation, annexation, and assimilation pursued by Morocco.
The statement emphasized that the just and final solution to the Sahrawi issue, contrary to what the Moroccan occupation seeks by promoting other solutions, cannot be imagined outside the framework of a credible legal reality, such as the UN-African settlement plan agreed upon under the United Nations framework between the two parties to the conflict, the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco, in 1991. This plan calls for holding a free and fair referendum whereby the Sahrawi people can determine their fate and the final status of their land, Western Sahara.
The Permanent Office of the National Secretariat praised the positions expressed by friendly and brotherly countries and forces advocating for rights and law around the world, particularly Algeria, which are seen as a strong support for the just and legitimate struggle of our people, and a solid pillar for the spirit, objectives, and content of international law and legitimacy.
The Permanent Office of the National Secretariat expressed the willingness of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to contribute positively and collaboratively to establishing a just and lasting peace in the region and creating an atmosphere of coexistence and integration among its countries and peoples.
