Mexico City (Mexico) September 30, 2024 (SPS) - The 28th International Conference of Parties and New Society, hosted in the Mexican capital Mexico City, reaffirmed its full solidarity with the struggle waged by the Sahrawi people against colonialism and foreign aggression for more than five decades, through all legitimate means, for their self-determination and independence.

At the end of its proceedings held from September 26 to 28 September, the Conference renewed its unconditional support for the Polisario Front, the legitimate and sole representative of the Sahrawi people, and called on friendly and sister organizations to mobilize further support and intervention with governments and regional organizations to join the consensus of Latin America and the Caribbean region for the recognition of the Sahrawi Republic and the end of the Moroccan military occupation of Western Sahara.

The Conference condemned the maneuvers of the pro-Moroccan lobbies seeking to discredit the legitimate struggle of the Sahrawi people and to legalize the colonial occupation in Western Sahara, including the illegal looting of the natural resources and public property of the Sahrawi people.

The participants in the Conference condemned the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic dated August 17, 2024, which attributed to President Luis Abinader, his support for Morocco's occupation of Western Sahara and his intention to open an illegal consulate in the occupied areas of Western Sahara; considering it a serious precedent of violation of international legality and coming in the midst of an aggressive war against the Sahrawi people.

The Conference called on the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the left-wing and progressive political forces and social and popular movements, to intensify their solidarity with the just struggle of the Sahrawi people for decolonization and independence, as the struggle against colonialism for the political, economic and social rights and the sovereignty of the Sahrawis is a cause shared by the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.
