Sahrawi Foreign Minister holds several meetings on sidelines of 79th session of UN General Assembly

New York (United Nations), September 26, 2024 (SPS) - On the sidelines of the high-level general debate of the 79th regular session of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Mohamed Sidati, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from brotherly and friendly countries.

The Sahrawi Foreign Minister met with H.E. Mr. Valdrack Ludwing Jaentschke, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua, H.E. Mr. Yvan Gil Pinto, Minister of the People's Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, H.E. Mr. Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, and H.E. Mr. Peya Mushelenga, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of Namibia. The Sahrawi Minister also met with several other heads of delegations of other countries participating in the current session of the General Assembly.

During these meetings, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the Sahrawi Republic and the brotherly and friendly countries, as well as the latest developments in the national issue and exchanged views on other issues of common interest.

The bilateral meetings were also an opportunity for the Foreign Ministers to reaffirm the principled and unwavering positions of their countries on the Sahrawi issue, expressing their unconditional support for the Sahrawi Republic and the legitimate right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and freedom, as well as their determination to continue advocating for the Sahrawi cause in international and continental forums.

Accompanying the Sahrawi Foreign Minister during the current session of the United Nations General Assembly are Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, member of the National Secretariat, representative of the Polisario Front to the United Nations and coordinator with MINURSO, and Mr. Mahfoud El Ouali Salama, advisor to the Representation of the Polisario Front to the United Nations.
