Launch of Summer University for Sahrawi Executives in Boumerdes

Boumerdes (Algeria), July 14, 2024 (SPS) - The activities of the Summer University for Sahrawi State and the Polisario Front Executives were launched today, Sunday, in Boumerdes, Algeria, in its 20th edition, with the participation of 400 executives representing various national institutions and bodies.

The opening ceremony of the University was attended by the President of the National Council, Hamma Salama, who supervised the opening of the session, as well as a number of national political and cultural figures, former ministers from Algeria, heads of several national parties, and representatives of various civil society associations and ambassadors of several countries accredited to Algeria.

The University's ceremony began with a speech by the President of the Summer University, Mrabih El Mami El Dai, in which he praised the support they receive from the Algerian authorities to make this new edition of the Summer University a success, which he considered a space for positive interaction and rapprochement between the Sahrawi and Algerian peoples, and to pave the way for a shared and prosperous future.

The activities of the University, which bears the name of the martyr Aba Ali Hamoudi, under the slogan "Struggle and Sacrifice for  Independence and Freedom", will continue until July 24, with the participation of about 400 Sahrawis representing various Sahrawi national institutions.

The first week of the event will feature a number of lectures given by Algerian and Sahrawi speakers, addressing topics related to the Sahrawi issue, such as international law and the rights of colonial peoples (the case of the Sahrawi people), the need to re-establish the concept of self-determination and its applications to the Western Sahara issue, and human rights violations in the occupied territories and international law considerations.

Other topics related to the protection of Sahrawi natural resources, human rights protection in Western Sahara, drugs and their effects, and cybersecurity will also be programmed.

The second week of the university will feature additional lectures, including methods and approaches to confront propaganda and psychological warfare.
