Algiers, May 9, 2024 (SPS) - Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reiterated his country's unwavering stance on the just cause of Western Sahara.
In a speech delivered during his visit to the headquarters of the Algerian Ministry of National Defense on the occasion of the National Day of Memory, which coincides with May 8, President Tebboune renewed Algeria's firm and unconditional commitment to just causes, at the top of which is the Palestinian cause and the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.
The Algerian President added, "the Sahrawi people must have their referendum, whether it leads to independence or other choices. The Sahrawi people are the ones who decide, and no one can decide on their behalf. There are youth who were born in the refugee camps and have reached the age of 45. The United Nations must fulfill its role. There is a people whose destiny is still on the table of the United Nations Decolonization Committee. We must expedite the decolonization process. We will never abandon the Sahrawi people."
