Nairobi, Kenya, May 8, 2024 (SPS) - The African Fertilizer and Soil Health Summit 2024 continues for the second consecutive day in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, under the theme "Listen to the Land." The summit is attended by member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Sidati, and Minister of Development, Mr. Baba Ahmed Mohamed Yehdih Afdidi.

The Foreign Minister had the opportunity to address his African counterparts on the agricultural policy of the Sahrawi Republic. He emphasized that, like many countries represented in this African gathering, the Sahrawi Republic is facing the crisis of declining soil quality in agricultural lands, negatively impacting agricultural production capacity and food security on the continent.

He added, "As we face these challenges related to the decline in agricultural production capacity and food security on the continent, we are simultaneously engaged in the struggle to end colonialism in our country and enforce the Charter of the African Union. These challenges are interconnected."

It is expected that the African agricultural summit will culminate in the approval of a ten-year action plan, which will provide tangible recommendations on the steps that African leaders and relevant stakeholders should take over the next decade to enhance soil health, increase crop yields, and improve agricultural profitability.

The Sahrawi Republic is represented by a high-level delegation led by Prime Minister Mr. Bushraya Hamoudi Beyoun, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Sidiati, Minister of Development Mr. Baba Ahmed Mohamed Yehdih Afdidi, Permanent Ambassador to the African Union, Mr. Lamine Baali, Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic to the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Mohamed Limam Mohamed Ali, and First Secretary of the Embassy of the Sahrawi Republic in the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Ala Sidahmed Omar.
