Boumerdes, August 11, 2026 (SPS) – President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, has reaffirmed that a just and final solution to the conflict must necessarily involve enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise its right to self-determination.
In his speech delivered while presiding over the opening of the 14th edition of the Summer University for executives of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi State, President Brahim Ghali stressed that United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797, despite attempts to give an unjustified priority to Morocco’s expansionist proposal, confirms beyond any doubt that a just and final solution to the Western Sahara conflict must necessarily be achieved by enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise its right to self-determination.
On this basis, the President of the Republic added, the Polisario Front has demonstrated its good faith and continued readiness for constructive cooperation, and has participated in the consultative meetings held following the adoption of the resolution in all seriousness.
President Brahim Ghali stressed that the United Nations Security Council is now required to adopt a clear and firm position toward the intransigence of the Moroccan occupying state and its reliance on perpetuating the status quo, which will only lead to further tension and escalation in the region and threaten peace and stability.
