Venturina Terme (Italy), August 3, 2026 (SPS) – A panel discussion on the situation in Western Sahara was held on Sunday in the town of Venturina Terme, in Italy's Tuscany Region, where participants reaffirmed their solidarity with the Sahrawi people and its just cause, expressing their support for its legitimate right to self-determination and independence.
Held under the theme "Standing Firm Against the Wind, the Storm Will Pass: Seeds of Peace," the event brought together representatives of institutions and civil society organizations, members of the solidarity movement with the Sahrawi cause, and the Polisario Front's representative in Tuscany. The discussion was organized as part of the political and cultural initiative entitled "United for a New Centre-Left."
The panel was also attended by representatives of the Tuscany Regional Government, including the Deputy President of the Region and the Chair of the Committee on European Affairs and International Policies.
The event concluded with a message of support and solidarity addressed to the Sahrawi people, in which participants called for a lasting peace based on respect for the legitimate rights and aspirations of the Sahrawi people.
This initiative forms part of the longstanding solidarity between Tuscany and the Sahrawi people, a relationship that has developed over decades through joint cooperation projects, cultural activities, and various solidarity programs.
