Las Palmas (Canary Islands), July 9, 2026 (SPS) – The Literary Salon in Las Palmas, on the island of Gran Canaria, hosted on Tuesday the presentation of the book “Morocco, the Occupying Power in Western Sahara,” authored by Spanish lawyer and academic Dr. José Rever Calabuig.
The event was attended by lawyer and legal adviser to the Gran Canaria Council Inés Miranda, who also serves as President of the International Association of Jurists for Western Sahara.
The book examines the various dimensions of the conflict in Western Sahara from historical, legal, geographical, and economic perspectives. It also explores the issue's presence within the United Nations, the African Union, and the European Union, while addressing the human rights situation and the exploitation of the Territory's natural resources.
