Shaheed El-Hafed, 1 March, 2026 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, has received a congratulatory message from his Nicaraguan counterpart, Mr. José Daniel Ortega Saavedra, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic.
In his message, José Daniel Ortega expressed his sincere congratulations to the President of the Republic and to the Sahrawi people, stating: “This important date commemorates half a century of honorable and steadfast struggle for self-determination, freedom, and justice. It is an occasion to respectfully recall the historic act of proclaiming the Sahrawi Republic, when the Sahrawi people raised their flag and declared their firm will for freedom, thus launching a path of resistance that stands as an example of resilience and love of homeland for all peoples who value peace and sovereignty.”
Ortega added: “From Nicaragua, our blessed and forever free country, we renew our commitment to continue defending the right of the brotherly Sahrawi people — the people of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic — to self-determination and national sovereignty.”
