Shaheed El-Hafed, February 23, 2026 (SPS) – The Ministry of Public Health organized an open day on Monday to highlight the role of the Sahrawi health system despite the conditions of exile.
The event was held as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic, with the aim of shedding light on the institutional development of the Sahrawi state.
The event was attended by the Deputy Head of the National Committee overseeing the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Sahrawi Republic’s proclamation, the official in charge of the Political Organization Secretariat, member of the National Secretariat, Mr. Amrabih El Mami Dai, Minister of Public Health Salek Baba Hasana, as well as members of the government, the National Council, representatives of various national institutions, and officials from the Ministry of Public Health.
The event began with speeches by the official in charge of the Political Organization Secretariat and the Minister of Public Health, who recalled the significance and symbolism of 50 years of steadfastness, confrontation, and institution-building in the health sector.
A presentation was also delivered on the Sahrawi health system, outlining its stages of establishment, the development of the health sector in the Sahrawi Republic, achievements made, current challenges, and future prospects.
The open day featured video screenings showcasing the work of the health system over 50 years of resilience and perseverance, particularly in key health programs such as vaccination campaigns, the pharmaceutical production laboratory, mental health services, and the Health Week initiative.
