Paris (France), 30 November 2025 (SPS) – The 49th Conference of the European Coordination for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO) affirmed in its final communiqué the priority of organizing a referendum in Western Sahara that guarantees the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination, and the need to halt the plunder of their natural resources.

The conference, held on the 28th and 29th of November in the French capital, Paris, in the presence of a high-level Sahrawi delegation headed by the Prime Minister, Mr. Bouchraya Hamoudi Beyoun, constituted an exceptional moment of international solidarity. It was marked by the participation of more than two hundred delegates from various countries and continents, including friendly delegations, political leaders, parliamentarians, associations and solidarity committees, trade unions, and other bodies.

The conference took note of UN Security Council Resolution 2797, dated 31 October 2025, highlighting that the resolution reaffirms the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), recognizes the Polisario Front as the sole representative of the people of Western Sahara, and clearly states that the United Nations must “reach a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable political solution that enables the people of Western Sahara to exercise their right to self-determination, in accordance with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter.”

The conference will also work with the Polisario Front to protect the natural resources of the Sahrawi people and to establish a European-African trade framework based on solidarity and food sovereignty for the benefit of the region’s peoples.

In light of the continued serious human rights violations by Morocco, the conference called for the immediate release of all Sahrawi political prisoners held in Moroccan occupation prisons, and for allowing access to international observers and organizations to the occupied areas of Western Sahara.

Parliamentary, trade union, and workshop activities enabled the development of a broad-scale mobilization program to ensure respect for the Sahrawi people's inalienable right to self-determination, in accordance with the relevant UN and Security Council resolutions.
