
Algiers, June 17, 2025 (SPS) – The Secretary-General of the National Union of Sahrawi Women (NUSW), Ms. Shaba Seiny, was received by the President of the Algerian National Observatory for Civil Society, Ms. Ibtissam Hamlaoui.
The meeting, held within the framework of strengthening ties between Sahrawi and Algerian civil societies, focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in civil society fields, particularly the empowerment of Sahrawi women in social, political, and economic spheres.
During the discussions, both sides stressed the importance of exchanging expertise and experiences between the two institutions to strengthen women’s roles in decision-making and promote a culture of active participation in public life.
The talks also addressed the significance of mutual support in implementing programs and initiatives aimed at raising women’s awareness and enhancing their capabilities, especially given the challenges faced by women in refugee conditions.
The meeting reaffirmed the solidarity between Algerian and Sahrawi civil society organizations and their shared commitment to advancing women’s rights and social development.
