Barcelona (Spain), 13 May 2026 (SPS) – The Polisario Front Representative in Catalonia, Mohamed Salem Ahmed Laabeid, held a working meeting with representatives of the spokesperson of the Popular Party parliamentary group, Mr. Juan Fernández, and Mr. Cristian Escribano, member of the European Affairs and Foreign Relations Committee of the party and member of the Parliamentary Group for Peace and Freedom for the Sahrawi People in the Catalan Parliament.
The meeting was also attended by a friend of the Sahrawi people and former Secretary-General of the Popular Party in the province, Mr. Rafael Luna.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Sahrawi diplomat to brief his counterparts on the latest developments concerning the national cause and the progress of the settlement process, while reminding them of Spain’s legal and historical responsibility.
For their part, the representatives of the Popular Party reaffirmed the party’s firm, serious, and steadfast position in support of the Sahrawi people’s legitimate right to self-determination and decolonization. They also reiterated their condemnation of the Spanish government’s position supporting the occupation and the double standards adopted by the Spanish Prime Minister in dealing with the struggle of the Sahrawi people.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of a work program aimed at ensuring the continuity of coordination and cooperation between the two sides.
