Algiers, September 24, 2025 (SPS) – The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a farewell ceremony for Ambassador Omar Bulsan, on the occasion of the conclusion of his duties as ambassador to Cuba.

The farewell ceremony, chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Gerardo Peñalver Portal, was attended by the diplomatic corps accredited to Havana.

In a speech on the occasion, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the historical bilateral relations between Cuba and the Sahrawi Republic, as well as the ongoing support Cuba has provided in the fields of education and health.

On behalf of the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, Ambassador Omar Bulsan was awarded the Friendship Medal as an expression of the strong standing held by the Sahrawi Republic and the struggling Sahrawi people, and as a symbol of solidarity and support for freedom and independence.

In his speech, the Sahrawi Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the affection, esteem, and solidarity demonstrated by Cuba—through its party, government, and people—toward the struggling Sahrawi people in their pursuit of full sovereignty, freedom, and independence.
