Wilaya of El Aaiún, September 11, 2025 (SPS) - The member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, received today, Thursday, Ms. Savina Claudia Ammassari, the United Nations Ambassador and Resident Coordinator in Algeria, who is on a working visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps.
During the visit, the Ambassador observed a model for the distribution of humanitarian aid provided to the Sahrawi refugees, as well as a sample distribution of school supplies on the occasion of the opening of the 2025/2026 school year.
During his meeting with her and the accompanying delegation, the Minister of Education and Vocational Training made an intervention in which he addressed the situation of the education sector in the Sahrawi state, reviewing the national experience in building and educating generations.
The Minister of Education and Vocational Training highlighted the great importance that the Sahrawi authorities attach to the field of education, touching on the challenges and difficulties facing the educational system resulting from the situation of refuge, calling for ensuring adequate support for the educational process.
Abdelkader Taleb pointed out the serious repercussions that could result from the reduction in humanitarian aid directed to Sahrawi refugees in general and the field of education in particular.
The Minister referred to the necessity of ensuring incentives and respecting the deadlines for their disbursement for the benefit of the workers of the educational system, due to its positive impact on the educational process and its outcomes.
The Minister appreciated this visit, noting that it comes in a sensitive international, regional, and national context where the Moroccan occupation, after nearly 50 years, continues its policy of violating human rights, plundering Sahrawi natural resources, and disregarding international legitimacy decisions that largely call for respecting the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.
The Ambassador and Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Algeria expressed her conviction regarding the recorded needs and her determination to work on finding solutions to these difficulties, especially those related to incentives for employees in the sector of education and vocational training.
