Shaheed El Hafed, July 16, 2025 (SPS) – Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, a member of the National Secretariat, the Polisario Front’s representative at the United Nations, and coordinator with MINURSO, affirmed that the Sahrawi people have always tangibly demonstrated their ability to rise to the challenge and confront the plans and conspiracies of the Moroccan occupying state, which has escalated its attacks against our people in an attempt to eliminate them and their legitimate rights.
This statement came during an interview conducted by the Sahrawi diplomat with the Sahrawi National Television as part of the "Dialogue" program, discussing the latest developments in the national cause at the United Nations level in light of the current international situation.
Speaking about the current global situation, the Sahrawi diplomat pointed to the rise of unilateral tendencies in addressing certain international issues, accompanied by a departure from the framework of international law, including the UN Charter. This poses a significant challenge to the multilateral policies upon which the United Nations is founded.
In this context, he emphasized that the rights of the Sahrawi people are firmly established and recognized by the United Nations and the international community. He stressed that the endurance and permanence of these rights are tied to the endurance and permanence of the Sahrawi people themselves. Thus, our people’s right to a free and sovereign existence will remain as long as the Sahrawi people exist. Neither the Moroccan occupying state nor those behind it will be able to strip our people of this right.
Regarding the human rights situation in the occupied territories, the Sahrawi diplomat confirmed that the Moroccan occupying state continues to impose a blockade and media blackout on the occupied areas of the Sahrawi Republic, which remains the largest prison on Earth. This is because Morocco fears global awareness of the war crimes it commits against Sahrawi civilians, including attempts to forcibly displace them from their land and implant a foreign body of settlers in their place.
