
Nairobi (Kenya), May 27, 2025 (SPS) – The Minister of Economic and Financial Affairs, alongside the Sahrawi Republic's Ambassador to Nairobi, Mohamed Limam Mohamed Ali Sid El-Bachir, participated in a ministerial symposium held as part of the Connected Africa Summit. The event took place in the coastal area of Diani near Mombasa, Kenya's second economic capital.
The symposium, titled "Artificial Intelligence in Africa: Priorities and Challenges," served as a platform to analyze the current state of AI on the continent, exploring conditions for its effective adoption—including infrastructure, education, capacity-building, international cooperation, investment, as well as legal frameworks, domestic regulations, and cybersecurity.
In his address, the Sahrawi Minister highlighted the challenges faced by the Sahrawi State in digitalization and the deployment of information and communication technologies (ICT). He stressed the importance of international support in enabling the Sahrawi people to benefit from the digital transformation. Additionally, he called for constructive partnerships to localize digital technology and integrate it into various aspects of life.
The Minister commended the Kenyan government's leadership and pioneering experience in AI and digital transformation. He expressed the Sahrawi State's support for the symposium's outcomes and recommendations, proposing that digital transformation be included on the agenda of an upcoming African Union summit, reflecting its significance in implementing Africa's Agenda 2063.
