
Algiers, May 26, 2025 (SPS) – The Sahrawi Republic took part in the field exercise "North Africa Peace 3," organized under the supervision of the North African Regional Capability (NARC) and hosted by Algeria.
The opening ceremony was overseen by the Delegate Minister to the National Defense Minister and Chief of Staff of the Algerian Army, General Saïd Chanegriha, in the presence of military officials from the Algerian Ministry of Defense, delegations from member states, and the NARC Executive Body.
The exercise involved police and civilian components from member states, including Algeria, Egypt, the Sahrawi Republic, Libya, and Mauritania.
The Sahrawi delegation was headed by General Staff member and Chief of Operations, Taleb Ami Deih, representing the Chief of Staff of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army, Mohamed El Wali Akeik. The delegation included members from the police, civilian, and military components.
Algeria provided all necessary human resources and logistical support to ensure the success of this field exercise, which marks the official declaration of operational readiness for the North African Regional Capability (NARC) to participate in various peace support operations authorized by the African Union (AU) to resolve conflicts and promote peace and security across the African continent.
The North Africa Peace 3 exercise aims to enhance regional cooperation in peacekeeping and crisis response, as part of joint African efforts under the umbrella of the African Union.
