Stockholm (Sweden) 24 May 2025 (SPS)– Polisario Front’s Representative in Sweden and Norway, Ms. Senia Bachir Abderahman, took part in the “Solidarity Day” held at the “Solidarity House” (Solidaritetshuset) in Stockholm, which was organized by Afrikagrupperna and Swedish Western Sahara Committee.
The discussion was opened with a speech by Ms. Louise Lindfors, Secretary General of Afrikagrupperna, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the symbolic and political significance of the gathering.
She praised the prominent presence of the Sahrawi cause among freedom advocates around the world and stressed the need for Sweden to intensify its efforts in supporting the Sahrawi people's struggle, especially in light of the current global shifts away from international law and legality.

In her address to the attendees, Ms. Senia Bachir Abderahman presented the latest developments regarding the Sahrawi national cause, focusing on the renewed state of war in the region following Morocco’s breach of the ceasefire agreement on November 13, 2020.
She condemned Morocco’s attempts to impose a de facto reality that undermines the Sahrawi people's legitimate right to self-determination and independence.
Senia reaffirmed the Sahrawi people's commitment, through their sole legitimate representative, the POLISARIO Front, to continue their legitimate struggle in the face of what she described as international complicity with the Moroccan occupation, and attempts to circumvent international legality that firmly recognizes Western Sahara as the last colony in Africa.

The Sahrawi diplomat highlighted the dire conditions in the occupied Sahrawi cities, pointing to the systematic repression, harassment, and arbitrary arrests faced by Sahrawis, particularly human rights defenders, journalists, and activists. She also addressed the harsh circumstances endured by Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails.
In closing, the representative extended sincere thanks on behalf of the POLISARIO Front to all those in solidarity with the Sahrawi people's just struggle for freedom and independence, especially Swedish civil society organizations, which she said have remained steadfast in their support for liberation movements, particularly those of the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples.
The event concluded with the screening of the documentary film “Haiyu”, which follows the artistic journey of the late Sahrawi singer Mariem Hassan, highlighting her as a symbol of Sahrawi women’s resilience and struggle for freedom and independence. (SPS)
