Dili (East Timor), May 20, 2025 (SPS) – A Sahrawi delegation comprising Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, member of the National Secretariat and the Polisario Front's representative to the United Nations and coordinator with MINURSO, and Mr. Abba Malainin, the Sahrawi Republic’s ambassador to East Timor, held a meeting with Mr. Mari Alkatiri, Secretary-General of the Revolutionary Front for the Independence of East Timor (FRETILIN).
During the meeting, the Sahrawi delegation briefed their counterpart on the latest developments in the Sahrawi cause at both continental and international levels, with particular emphasis on the repression, intimidation, and attempts by the Moroccan occupying state to impose a colonial fait accompli in the occupied Sahrawi territories.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the Sahrawi delegation to express deep gratitude for FRETILIN’s principled stance and unwavering support for the Sahrawi people’s struggle for self-determination and independence.
For his part, Mr. Mari Alkatiri reaffirmed his historic party’s support for the Sahrawi people and their legitimate right to freedom and independence. He stressed that his movement’s position is based on the principles of justice, human rights, and the right of peoples to self-determination, as well as opposition to all forms of colonialism and foreign occupation.
