Wilaya of Dakhla, April 18, 2025 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, praised the pivotal role of Sahrawi workers in the dual missions of liberation and nation-building.
In his speech during the opening of the 10th Congress of the Workers' Union of Saguia el-Hamra and Rio de Oro (UGTSARIO) in the wilaya of Dakhla, President Ghali highlighted the active and central role of Sahrawi workers in all institutions of the Sahrawi state, where Sahrawi women have also held a distinguished position.
"The Sahrawi worker," Mr. Ghali added, "embodies the battle of steadfastness and defiance, waged by both men and women as part of the heroic resistance led by the masses of the Independence Intifada in the occupied territories and southern Morocco—despite all forms of repression, persecution, blockade, and economic suffocation, as well as the plundering of resources and confiscation of property carried out by the Moroccan occupation state."
The Secretary-General of the Polisario Front also commended the massive mobilization of Sahrawi workers in the early days of the revolution against colonial presence in their homeland. He recalled their significant participation in resistance activities and popular demonstrations during 1973, 1974, and 1975, including acts of sacrifice such as the historic Fosbucraa operation. These remain powerful examples of the Sahrawi workers' exceptional national struggle, whether in the camps of dignity and pride, in the occupied territories and southern Morocco, or within diaspora communities.
